Tena koutou katoa!
Nau mai, haere mai ki te kura o Broadgreen.
Next week we have our traditional exchange with students from CHRISTCHURCH SOUTH INTERMEDIATE. There is a variety of sporting and cultural activities that many students participate in. These include a disco and a debate ie ‘that smacking as a form of parental correction should be a criminal offence’. Thank you to those families who are hosting the visiting students.
The board is consulting with our community through an ANNUAL SURVEY providing guidance for 2010 planning. We have had a return rate of over 25% - thank you. I will share the results with staff, the board and community (next term’s newsletter) once collated and analysed.
The Police have asked me to remind students on bikes to take care at the RAILROAD RESERVE CROSSING. Some students travel too quickly across these making it difficult for motorist to stop in time.
Yesterday I met with some students for a ‘Principal’s morning tea’ to celebrate their selection as students who have exemplified our term’s virtue, SELF DISCIPLINE. I extend my congratulations to these students who consistently model this virtue (student names follow).
There are a number of STAFF CHANGESfor nextterm as follows:
Kelly Diskin (Room 15) has a term’s sabbatical leave. Adele Scotson will teach this class. We wish Kelly well as she explores links between Broadgreen and our Maori community.
Jessica Whinui (Room 13) will be on maternity leave. Jonathon Holland will teach this class. We wish Jessica well as she starts her family.
Jayne Keyes (Performing Arts) is leaving to also have a baby. Sue Baille will teach these classes. We wish Jayne well.
Jason Murray (Room 17) is departing to teach in an international school. Laura Jourdain will teach this class. We wish Jason and his family well in their overseas adventure.
The school community extends its thanks and appreciation for the service and contributiontheseteachers have given to Broadgreen. We wish them well in their respective endeavours.
The term is quickly coming to an end, thank you for supporting your child in their learning and the variety of programmes they are involved in. We wish you a safe and enjoyable holiday break.
Kind regards
Derek Lucic´
Principal
